Finding your Boldness and Executing it

Boldness is back!
And the looking coming from 2022 has been one of my favorite things this year.
Bold styles have always been inspiring, but what I love about them is their fierceness.
I grew up inspired by the Courtney Loves' of the world and my introduction to makeup was through rock bands.

It took a lot of wobbly eyeliner and fashion disasters to get myself to where I am today.
But the most exciting part for me for this year’s style is the makeup!
And for anyone who was in my shoes when I started my makeup journey, getting into that world was daunting, and knowing where to start was the toughest step.
I am putting together a guide in hopes of being helpful in your journey to finding your way, and finding what calls to you.
We all have to make ourselves vulnerable when trying something new, but it almost always pays off when you are following your gut.
So here are some technical tips from me for the first few big steps.
Cool tones are in!

I love cool tones and I love that they are back and even better.
A favorite cool-toned pallet of mine would be the Norvina palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills, a great introduction palette in my opinion.
While the shades don’t go very deep, an easy-to-blend and build formula is great to start out with!
This pallet travels with me everywhere and is my go-to.

To create the edge, I want I add a statement lip
A favorite is a Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick “Walk of no Shame” which performs best with its matching lipliner.

Another favorite is the liquid lipstick shade ‘Famous’, by Huda Beauty.

A simple glam eye can be great for beginners with the touch of a dark lip.
And don’t be afraid to go as dark as you like, the Charlotte Tilbury ‘So 90s’ also shines as a dark, shade of deep brown.

A more advanced look can be a bold, sharp, and elongated eye with a neutral lip.
Falling into a version of the fox eye aesthetic.
A bold eye that is crafted for the eye shape it is being applied to can do wonders for all eye shapes and colors, in fact, it is pretty badass when executed properly. And I have a few notes on how to do that as easily as possible.

Firstly, don’t shy away from tape if you are a beginner!
But I would shy away from craft tape, I personally like to use silicone tape made to be on the skin.
I also will tap it a few times on my hand to lessen the stick.
This way when you are done with your eye look the tape will peel gently off your skin.
When you are applying the tape, try to make it even and run it at the angle of your lower waterline.
Trust me on this!
This way when you apply eyeshadow and eyeliner it will fall into the shape of your eye.
From there, gently start to build up your eyeshadow and blend it outward into an angle, not into a round shape.
Eyeshadow blended into a round shape will create a classical eye shape and that is not the foundation of a fox eye.
When you are ready feel free to choose between dark brown or black shadow, and if you are feeling brave, even a liquid or kohl eyeliner.
The Makeup By Mario ‘MASTER MATTES’ is a great eyeshadow palette for this

Apply eyeshadow or eyeliner very finely along the lid of the eye and pull it out with your eyeshadow along with the tape, then go into the inner corners of your eyes and add a tiny line dipping down.
You can leave it there or fill in your waterline with kohl, completing the look boldly.
The Charlette Tilbury ‘Feline Flick’ or her pencil liner ‘Rock ‘n’ Kohl’ are my personal holy grails.

Usually, after this, I prefer to finish off with a neutral lip like Charlotte Tilbury's “Pillow Talk” for example.

Add that lip and eyeliner method and you are ready to go!
I love these two aesthetics and find them great introductions to bolder and fiercer looks.
Of course, everyone has different comfort levels but I invite you to try them out at any pace you like!
Have fun and experiment, this is just how I do these two looks.
Makeup is about fun and experimenting with different versions of yourself.
So go for it!
Always,
Glynne
